Student Interns Receive Falcon Star Awards During Showcase Symposium
On Thursday, August 29, 2019, nine students received the first-ever Falcon Star Award for Excellence in Career Preparation presented by Dr. Cindy Love, Director of Professional Development and Career Services. The students participated in the Internship Showcase Symposium, a student-led discussion on The Internship Experience. Each of the students spent their summer involved in a successful internship assignment and positively displayed the professionalism and excellence of an SAU Falcon. The panelists shared pertinent information that kept the audience well-engaged throughout the hour-long symposium in the Seby Jones Auditorium. The Showcase Symposium featured students from various disciplines and with varied organizational internship experiences. “I really enjoyed being able to speak openly and be real with the students about the career opportunities that are available to us”, said student panelist and junior accounting major, Briana Person. The panel discussion was moderated by senior Jeydri Urbina and senior Bercario Bodie. The panelists each shared about their specific experience, how SAU has prepared them for related career experiences and how this internship impacts their learning process. We are extremely proud of the students who represent Saint Augustine’s University in companies, organizations and in our community.
