The Rev. Canon Angela S. Ifill, Missioner for Black Ministries in the Episcopal Church, and the Rev. Canon James G. Callaway, D.D., General Secretary for The Colleges and Universities of the Anglican Communion (CUAC) of the Episcopal Church, will visit with Saint Augustine’s University faculty, staff and students this week. During their visit, they will make several classroom visits and be guests on a panel forum scheduled for Friday, September 19 at 10:30 a.m. in the Seby Jones Auditorium. The topic of discussion will be Living your Best Life in Challenging Circumstances. Rev. Canon Angela S. Ifill will also be the guest homilist for Sunday, September 21 chapel services at 10:30 in the historic chapel.

The Rev. Canon Angela S. Ifill served as a missionary in East Africa where she also studied African Christianity and completed a paper on the Revival of the Church in East Africa.  In her work with congregations, Rev. Ifill has developed the New Visions Initiative for Congregational Renewal and Vitality, The Rites of Passage resource Rising Stars Experiences (RISE), an alternative to the School to Prison Pipeline and the Values to Live By guide for young people.   She has established a Clergy Leadership Institute for the recently ordained; an Institute for Learning and Advancement for the Sudanese Community and holds an annual leadership skills training conference for youth and young adults and seminarians.   Rev. Ifill is also the Episcopal Church liaison for Saint Augustine’s University and Voorhees College.  In 2013, Rev. Ifill led the planning team to design conversations and workshops for the state of racism event hosted by the Episcopal Church in the diocese of Mississippi. 

Rev. Canon James G. Callaway is widely known throughout the Anglican Communion, particularly for his work in forging enduring links with the Church in Africa and establishing mutual partnerships as a model for ministry.

CUAC is a worldwide association of more than 120 institutions of higher education and a network of the Anglican Communion. Its patron is the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. Rowan Williams. Along with its predecessor, the Association of Episcopal Colleges, which consists mostly of the Episcopal colleges in the US, CUAC’s mission is promoting cross-cultural contacts and educational programs.
