Saint Augustine’s University Exceeds Goal During National #GivingTuesday Campaign
Raleigh, N.C. — Giving Tuesday at Saint Augustine’s University (SAU) raised nearly $68,000 to support the University’s Annual Fund. Gifts from alumni, friends, faculty and staff, all contributed to the total. The University was able to meet and exceed a goal of $25,000 through the annual Employee Giving Campaign, Dollars for Scholars Initiative and a $25,000 gift from the Saint Paul’s College National Alumni Association.
“We are indeed appreciative of the financial support shown by our university employees, alumni and friends of the University,” said Dr. Steven E. Hairston, Vice President for Institutional Advancement. “These funds will help to assist the University’s goal to prepare our students for leadership roles in a global society.”
The annual fund is unrestricted, which allows the University to utilize funds to support the greatest needs of the campus. Gifts help to support emergency funding for students in crisis, student scholarships, career services and student internships, community-based research projects, lab equipment, student travel abroad opportunities, student activities and cultural events, and much more.
Occurring this year on November 27, #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the US) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, to kick off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.
