SAU Competes in Red Bull Chariot Race
October 15, 2022 (Raleigh, NC) – The SAU cycling team represented the school in the annual Red Bull Chariot Race over the weekend. This year’s event was held in Moore Square in downtown Raleigh in front of a crowd of more than a thousand spectators.
The SAU team included members Jalen Little (Jr), Kensington Brown (Jr), Bella Alvarenga (Fr), and cycling coach/alumnus Brandon Parris. The team’s chariot, nicknamed the “Canyon Flyer”, competed against 20 total teams from NCSU, UNC, NC A&T, and other area businesses and organizations.
The race included a 200-meter out-and-back course, with a requirement to complete a puzzle before continuing at the turnaround point. Additionally, the team had to perform a “skit” that highlighted Jalen Little’s stand-up comedic skills.
“This was a great event, as well as a nice marketing and exposure opportunity for the school. The students represented us well and are excited to compete in future Red Bull events,” comments Dr. Mark Janas, professor in the School of Business, Management, & Technology and faculty advisor for the event.
