SAU Excels in NCICU’s 2022-2023 Statistical Report
One of The Triangle’s historically black colleges/universities (HBCUs) stood tall in a recent report featuring North Carolina’s 36 private universities. Saint Augustine’s University (SAU), a proud North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities (NCICU) member, achieved remarkable success in NCICU’s 2022-2023 Statistical Report. The report highlights SAU’s outstanding performance, placing it in the top three for maintaining enrollment from 2018 to 2022.
“SAU is honored to receive recognition in NCICU’s 2022-2023 Statistical Report,” said SAU Interim President Marcus H. Burgess. “Our commitment to academic excellence and inclusive learning environments has resulted in significant growth, reflecting our dedication to serving our students and community.”
The report’s findings show the university’s dedication to academic growth and student success. SAU achieved a noteworthy 13% increase in undergraduate full-time equivalent (FTE) enrollment during this period, reflecting its commitment to providing high-quality education and fostering a supportive learning environment.

Moreover, SAU recorded a remarkable 28% rise in undergraduate headcount enrollment from 2018 to 2022. This growth rate in headcount enrollment stands as the highest among all NCICU member institutions, affirming SAU’s exceptional ability to attract and retain students from diverse backgrounds.
