SAU Department of Education Awarded $10,000 Grant from Burroughs Wellcome Fund to Support National Center for Teacher Residencies Partnership
The Burroughs Wellcome Fund has awarded the Saint Augustine’s University Department of Education an ad hoc grant to support its partnership with the National Center for Teacher Residencies in developing teacher candidates for the profession. The $10,000 grant will provide funds to complement recruitment and retention of teacher education students. “At a time when there is a national teacher shortage, we anticipate that this funding will help us attract qualified students who will be able to cope with the rigorous scope of the teacher educator program,” said Dr. M. Iyailu Moses, chair of the department. We are grateful to the Burroughs Wellcome Fund for their interest in this endeavor.”
The Burroughs Wellcome Fund lends its generous support to interests engaged in “improving human health through education and powering discovery in frontiers of greatest need.”
